Distinguished former judge and legal scholar Mark Painter joins Manley Burke, LPA
Manley Burke, LPA is pleased to announce that Mark P. Painter has joined the firm as Of Counsel. Painter served as a judge for 30 years, on the Hamilton County Municipal Court, the Ohio Court of Appeals, and concluding with a term as the sole American on the United Nations Appeals Tribunal.
Painter is one of the most-published judges ever with over 400 of his decisions published nationally. He also authored the legal treatises Ohio Driving Under the Influence Law and Ohio Appellate Practice. Recognized as an international expert on legal writing, he frequently speaks on plain-language writing, and authored the popular and essential book, The Legal Writer: 40 Rules for the Art of Legal Writing. Painter has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Cincinnati since 1990, and was named Distinguished Visiting Professor in 2008.

Mark Painter and Tim Burke have known each other for over 40 years. When Burke was student body president of Xavier University in 1970, Painter was his counterpart at the University of Cincinnati. They then were in the same class at UC College of Law. "I have long held Tim Burke in high esteem, and I look forward to my renewed association with him and working with the Manley Burke firm," said Painter.
