Tarik J. Terry is a 2024 graduate of the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, where he served as a Media Editor for the school’s flagship law review, an Associate Chief Justice on the Honor Council, and a National semi-finalist for the Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Travel Team. He received a “CALI Excellence for the Future Award” in recognition of his academic accomplishments in the law of education and civil rights. Tarik also externed for the Hon. Bernice B. Donald, United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Prior to law school, Tarik earned his Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Old Dominion University. During his time at ODU, Tarik was actively involved with his fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha, serving as chapter president and as a student representative on the international fraternity’s board of directors. After graduating from ODU, Tarik served as a Chapter Consultant with Pi Kappa Alpha.

Tarik initially joined Manley Burke as a law clerk in 2023 as a rising-third-year student. Following graduation from law school, Tarik was an associate at a national insurance defense firm focusing on personal injury and worker’s compensation defense in Memphis, TN. He later served as a law clerk for the Hon. Denise E. Barnett, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Tennessee.

Due to his firsthand understanding of fraternal organizations, Tarik’s practice includes fraternal law, as well as civil litigation and non-profit organizations. Outside of his work, Tarik enjoys traveling, live sports, music, and comedy, and spending time with his wife and dog.
